Banyan Tree

This is the Banyan Tree on Maui in Hawaii all lit up for Christmas. It is a huge tree that's branches reach out far and create a seemingly tent like atmosphere. This was the tree at night when the string lights were all lit up and there seemed to be an air of mystique in the surrounding area of Lahaina, perfectly centered around this majestic tree. The string lights perfectly lit the tree and sort of gave everyone a sense of innocence and fragility, almost as if I was being reminded of when I used to make forts as a child and bring flashlights under the multi colored blankets. During this course I have learned to appreciate how much lighting can affect an area and especially the mood of the people surrounding. The little details that light added to so many experiences in my life I almost glossed over in the moment, but now looking back on it, there were so many moments that would not have been as beautiful or memorable had it not been for the interesting and innovative uses of light.
